Beyonce killed it last night back on stage for the first time since her marriage to rapper Jay-Z. Performing at the 5th Annual Fashion Rocks concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York, she sang legendary R&B singer Etta James’ hit song “At Last” and gave audiences a preview of her role as James in the upcoming movie “Cadillac Records.” She donned a costume from the flick, got into character (short blonde wig and all) and took a few minutes to give tribute to James, who was also in the audience and rocked the house with two other performances, one a Marvin Gaye-Tammi Terrel duet with Justin Timberlake. Mariah Carey, , Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Fergie and others also performed. The 5th Annual Fashion Rocks concert airs Tuesday, September 9th at 9 p.m. on CBS.

The long & short of Beyonce's locks

IF you happened to catch Beyonce Knowles' performance at the opening of New York's Fashion Week, you might be wondering what happened to her long, flowing locks.

Singing at the Fashion Rocks event on Friday night, the former Destiny's Child singer not only sported a curled crop, she had also mysteriously gone blonde overnight.

But fans of the diva's tresses need not panic - she was wearing a wig.

The fake do was part of her tribute to Etta James, who Beyonce is set to play in an upcoming movie, Cadillac Records, a biopic about legendary record producer Leonard Chess.

With James in the audience at New York's Radio City Music Hall, Beyonce wowed the crowd with a killer rendition of the former's hit 'At Last' while togged in an elegant bejewelled yellow gown.

Still wearing the wig, Beyonce later took the stage with 13 other high-powered divas, including Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Natasha Bedingfield to belt out their 'Just Stand Up', a charity single to aid cancer research.

But when it came time to do a sizzling duet with Justin Timberlake, Beyonce went back to her old self.

Down came her real hair, and out came a gold-sequined outfit with a neckline that plunged so low, it literally met her belt.

The superstar duo sang 'Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing', channelling the classic song's original singers, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

Beyonce and Timberlake were just some of the dozens of stars that performed at the annual Fashion Rocks concert, which was held to celebrate the relationship between music and fashion, while raising money for charity.

Hosted by actor Dennis Leary, the star-studded event also featured performances by Fergie, the Pussycat Dolls, Chris Brown, Keith Urban, as well as Beyonce's younger sister Solange.

Proceeds for the night will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, a programme established by the Entertainment Industry Foundation to raise money for cancer research.

British singer Bedingfield, who lost her grandmother to the disease several years ago, said she was thrilled to share the spotlight with the other singers to plug the charity single.

'This is the first time we're all together singing the song,' she told the Associated Press backstage.

'It was really special. It was really like a sisterhood, like a bond. ... We're all used to being the stars - the only star in the room - and it was really nice I think that everyone could just come together and really support each other.'

Fashion Week Starts Strong With Fashion Rocks

Today 12:48 PM PDT by Jefferson Reid

She's got style for miles. Kicking off New York Fashion Week, Beyoncé looked fabulous in this beautiful banana-colored gown at Friday night's Fashion Rocks event.

But beautiful B. then proceeded to belt out a stellar version of Etta James' classic "At Last" to a star-studded crowd—which included Etta James herself. Nice.

A classy look, a class act.

Beyoncé later dueted with Justin Timberlake on a crowd-pleasing "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" (other musical guests included the Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, Kid Rock, Mary J. Blige, Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey).

Beyoncé Shows Off $5M Engagement Ring

Jay-Z sure knows how to pick the bling!

All eyes were on Beyoncé Friday night, when, for the first time, the singer publicly displayed her engagement ring on the red carpet for Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall in N.Y.C.

The singer, 27, who secretly married rapper Jay-Z in April, flashed an 18 carat flawless diamond by Lorraine Schwartz, valued at more than $5 million dollars, according to the jeweler.

Neither Beyoncé nor Jay-Z have publicly confirmed their marriage but in recent weeks, Beyoncé’s younger sister Solange referred to Jay-Z as her brother-in-law during a television interview.

Later in the evening, Beyoncé took off the ring for a duet with Justin Timberlake, but the sparkler was visible when she donned a short, blonde wig to sing a tribute to blues singer Etta James whom she portrays in an upcoming movie. Zimbio Cover

Wow! PhotobucketNow that's a ring! Beyonce finally decided to show off her $5,000,000 dollar engagement ring last night at Fashion Rocks in NYC. The ring Beyonce was sporting was an 18 carat flawless diamond by Lorraine SchwartzPhotobucket

Maybe the reason she didn't want anyone to see the ring was because it is so big, you can't stop gawking at it. It would be double the attention she already gets.

Beyonce and Jay Z secretly wed back in April but never officially announced it.

Timberlake, Cyrus among the stars at Fashion Rocks

By ERIN CARLSON, Associated Press Writer Sat Sep 6, 1:59 AM ET

NEW YORK (AP) — Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus and Charlize Theron were among the celebrities who appeared at the fifth annual Fashion Rocks concert celebrating the relationship between music and fashion.

They walked the red carpet Friday night at Radio City Music Hall amid a media circus angling for glamour shots of other stars including Fergie, Rihanna, Chris Brown and the "Gossip Girl" gang.

Brown, the R&B heartthrob, soaked up all the attention with a smile as he showed off his dapper ensemble of a black vest and shirt, gray pants, shiny shoes and diamond stud earrings.

"To be a musician and a great entertainer, you have to be a trendsetter. To be a trendsetter, you have to know fashion — and I have fun with it," explained the singer, who later changed into khakis and a black shirt and scarf for a performance of his hit song "Forever."

The event will air Tuesday in a two-hour special on CBS. Proceeds will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, a program established by the Entertainment Industry Foundation to raise money for cancer research.

Stand Up To Cancer held a live telethon that aired simultaneously on ABC, NBC and CBS on Friday night.

Fashion Rocks provided a live feed to the fundraising show of a performance of more than a dozen divas — including Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Natasha Bedingfield, Fergie, Rihanna and Cyrus — who gathered on stage to sing their new charity song, "Just Stand Up." Theron and fellow Oscar winner Hilary Swank introduced the ladies' collaboration.

Bedingfield said she lost her grandmother to the disease several years ago, and was thrilled to share the spotlight with the other singers.

"This is the first time we're all together singing the song," she said backstage. "It was really special. It was really like a sisterhood, like a bond. ... We're all used to being the stars — the only star in the room — and it was really nice I think that everyone could just come together and really support each other."

Other performers included Timberlake, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Duffy, the Pussycat Dolls and the Black Eyed Peas.

A highlight was Timberlake and Beyonce's sizzling duet of "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," which channeled the soulful sound of the classic song's original singers, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Stars mingled and sipped cocktails backstage in the green room, where Leighton Meester of the CW teen drama "Gossip Girl" and her actor-beau Sebastian Stan hung out before she introduced Duffy's performance of "Mercy."

Meester's "Gossip" co-star Chace Crawford chatted up actress Hayden Panettiere, who embraced her rock-star side in a silver Ferragamo minidress and black heels.

"I usually try to mix class and then really funk it out," Panettiere said of her personal style. "It's rock meets class. I try — not always succeed, but I try."
