LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Forbes' annual Hollywood's 10 Highest-Earning Women list has one thing missing: female directors. Directors James Cameron, George Lucas and Michael Bay dominated the men's list, making $210 million with "Avatar," $95 with "Star Wars" and $120 Million with "Transformers." But Kathryn Bigelow, who won the Best Director Oscar this year for "The Hurt Locker," didn't earn enough to crack the list. Her drama made $16.4 million compared to ex husband Cameron's $2.8 billion with "Avatar." The only actress on the list is Sandra Bullock, at No. 6, who earned $56 million with her two hits, "The Proposal" and "The Blind Side" (which won her the Best Actress Oscar), and her producing work. Unsurprisingly, Oprah Winfrey, who launches her OWN network on January 1, topped the list with $315 million. Beyonce, who comes in No. 2, made $87 million, which, as Forbes points out, would have put her No. 9 on the men's list. The remaining top-earning women wouldn't have placed at all on the men's list. Collectively, the highest-earning men made $1.2 billion between June 1, 2009 and June 1, 2010, compared to the $835 million the women brought home in the same time period. (Editing by Zorianna Kit)

Hollywood's Top-Earning Moguls In The Making
Lacey Rose, 01.11.10, 06:00 AM EST
From Beyonce to Lil' Wayne, meet 12 budding celebrity powerhouses.
In Pictures: Hollywood's Top-Earning Moguls In The Making
LOS ANGELES -- Who has bigger potential for Hollywood wealth than a beautiful, world-famous hit singer?
Easy: a beautiful, world-famous hit singer who also boasts a big time acting career, a fragrance line, a fashion label and slew of endorsement deals--all before she turns 30.
Call it Hollywood's new reality--or in this case, the résumé of Beyonce Knowles. In an era where stars are many and revenue streams are shrinking it's increasingly important for celebrities to do a lot more than sing (or act) for their suppers. And nobody's done that better than the 12 stars on our list of budding moguls.
In addition to singing and acting, many members have either a fragrance (see 50 Cent) or fashion line (see Jessica Simpson) on their résumé. In Simpson's case the bulk of her $20 million earnings for the year came from her fashion empire (shoes, clothing, accessories). Others lend their A-list names and faces to brands (Taylor Swift) and record labels (Akon).
In Pictures: Hollywood's Top-Earning Moguls In The Making
To identify these rising moguls, we took a look at Hollywood's top earners at or under 35 with income coming in from more than one industry. (For consistency, we calculated pre-tax earnings from all entertainment-related ventures between June 1, 2008, and June 1, 2009.) To make the cut these stars also had to have the potential to grow as celebrity powerhouses in the years to come.
Take the multitalented and multimedia Knowles. Still shy of 30, the Queen B raked in an estimated $87 million during the year-long period, thanks to a diversified portfolio of music, film, fashion and lucrative endorsement deals.
For the year ending in June, Knowles dropped a double album, starred in two films (Obsessed and Cadillac Records), performed at both the Oscars and the Presidential Inaugural Ball and embarked on another international tour. She also expanded a fashion collection that includes casual and formal lines as well as jewelry and eyeglasses, and added sponsors Nintendo ( NTDOY.PK - news - people ), Crystal Geyser and General Mills ( GIS - news - people ) to a roster of endorsers that already included L'Oréal, Giorgio Armani and Samantha Thavasa handbags.
Similarly high on the list is comeback queen Britney Spears, who banked $35 million during the 12-month period. After a very public meltdown in 2007, the one-time pop princess has climbed back into the hearts and playlists of her many fans. Last month, Billboard Magazine named her the second-best selling act of the 2000s. Off stage, her collection of top-selling perfumes continues to fly off shelves, and she currently serves as the face of Candie's shoes.
And then there are those in the $18 million club: actress Katherine Heigl and songstress Taylor Swift. Heigl supplemented her big- and small-screen acting career with a production company (alongside her manager mother) and endorsement deals. Swift lends her face to companies like Sony ( SNE - news - people ) and L.e.i. clothing when she isn't busy recording, touring or picking up awards. Up next, the 20-year-old talent, whom Billboard recently named artist of the year for 2009, will test her acting chops with a debut role opposite her ex, and fellow teen heartthrob, Taylor Lautner in Garry Marshall's romantic comedy Valentine's Day.

Inside Beyonce's Entertainment Empire

Forbes Magazine dated June 22, 2009
Beyonce Knowles is a perfectionist. That's how she rakes in $87 million a year.
On a crisp Thursday evening in late April a Cadillac Escalade barrels down a cross street in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, coming to a halt before the School of Visual Arts. Four-and-a-half-inch heels emerge, then the rest of Beyoncé Knowles, wearing a crowd-delighting, hip-hugging, black-sequined Balmain dress. Flashbulbs and shrieks explode from a gathering in the hundreds. The 27-year-old singer is there to promote Obsessed, a movie thriller she's been plugging relentlessly since the beginning of the week. Beyoncé works the crowd for 45 minutes before heading into the theater. With two bodyguards, a publicist and a stylist alongside, she takes questions from the press. Yes, she did get bruised while filming the fight scene. That hoax, where Howard Stern played a distorted version of "If I Were a Boy," making her sound grotesquely off-key--oh, that was silly.
After the premiere Beyoncé headed to a party at the Bowery Hotel. It had been quite a day. Call time at the Today show was 6 a.m. to rehearse and get made up for a live interview and performance. After that she appears on The View (11 a.m.) before heading over to tape Larry King [not quite] Live, followed by 106 & Park at BET. She has a few hours to herself at a downtown apartment.
That's the way much of her life has played out for the past 20 years--one reason she has sold upward of 118 million records, won ten Grammys, starred in seven films and headlined three solo tours. This year she will bring in an estimated $87 million from publishing and music sales, touring and other performances, film work, her fashion collection and endorsement deals. That diversified portfolio helps her land at number 4 on the FORBES Celebrity 100 list, a ranking based on income and visibility. Beyoncé constantly works and reworks her act, watching every two-hour performance on tour--even after her hundredth appearance--taking notes on how to improve. "I'm never satisfied," she says, adding with a nervous laugh, "I'm sure sometimes it's not easy working for me." Then, seriously: "I've never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry."
In Pictures: How Beyonce Makes Her Millions
Such diligence invites comparison with another 27-year-old at the top of the charts. Britney Spears is a study in contrast. After peaking early she has demonstrated a spectacular capacity for melting down. (Spears, number 13 on our list, is back on tour--and reportedly on medication.) "I've worked too hard and sacrificed too much to do something silly that would mess up the brand I've created all of these years," says Beyoncé. To say nothing of the jobs of the roughly 400 people who work for her or her enterprises.
Beyoncé grew up in a four-bedroom home in Houston's upscale third ward with her father, Mathew, a salesman at Xerox ( XRX - news - people ) (later at Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ - news - people )); mother, Tina, a hair salon owner; and younger sister, Solange, now a singer. A dance teacher spotted Beyoncé and encouraged the shy first-grader to enroll in her school's talent show--the first of three dozen competitions she won over the next few years. At age 9 Beyoncé joined and devoted every spare minute to an R&B group called Girlz Tyme, which didn't produce an album but did make it to Star Search.
Soon after, her father quit his day job to take over the group, imposing a boot camp regimen, cutting members and changing its name to Destiny's Child. Under his authority the band rehearsed for hours every day, working with a media coach, a choreographer and a voice teacher who lived for a time in an apartment over their garage. Knowles jogged with the girls as they sang, an exercise to build stamina, and booked them anywhere he could. "There was nothing too small or too large," he recalls--church services, grocery store openings, fashion shows, Six Flags ( SIX - news - people ). When it wasn't performing, the group was practicing. Unrelentingly. "Repetition, repetition," says her dad. "Beyoncé has always had such passion about music that she never complained about doing it again."
She still doesn't, judging by the number of takes she endured on a set at the Silvercup Studios in Long Island City, N.Y. It was 10 a.m. the Friday before her premiere, and Beyoncé had already spent an hour-plus at a morning workout with her personal trainer. She gave over much of the day to produce public service announcements and ad spots for the Feeding America campaign, an effort with General Mills ( GIS - news - people ). Beyoncé has spent considerable time (and money) on charities--she and her family created the Survivor Foundation to provide temporary housing to Hurricane Katrina and other disaster victims; she donated her acting salary from playing the once-drug-addicted blues singer Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) to Phoenix House. This six-hour ordeal of radio and TV spots plus a print ad wasn't totally selfless: General Mills is sponsoring the U.S. leg of her I Am tour this summer. Concertgoers will be able to donate nonperishable goods.

Beyonce's Steamy Video From Her Giant Photo Shoot
Beyoncé: Portrait of a Lady
The Renaissance woman is a marvel. But despite a life in the spotlight and the drives of obsessed fans, few people genuinely know Beyoncé Giselle Knowles. The words of those loved her best and longest, we present Sasha Fierce, Jay-Z’s bride, a dynamic musician, a skillful actress and an n adored daughter. The icon.
“You have to understand,” Jay-Z told me in 2003,before Beyoncé was his wife, when they were still getting to know each other, while they were negotiating their relationship with the public.” I don’t even like for people to know what my girl looks like…. and now I’m in a relationship with Michael Jackson!”
At the time, it wasn’t clear if Jay had a case of the love goggles. Sure, led by Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child hit the stratosphere in 2001, picking up Grammys, breaking Billboard records and churning out fun, girl-power R&B dance hits. (They wouldn’t be named bestselling girl group of all time until 2005, after they’d reunited in 2004 to record Destiny Fulfilled). But MJ? The greatest of all time? This was at a point when you couldn’t read an article on the group without Beyoncé being described as “bootylicious.” - DREAM HAMPTON

80 MILLION MORE REASONS TO BE ANGRY LOLOL! B1TCHES!
World's Best-Paid Music Stars
Lacey Rose, 09.22.08, 6:00 AM ET
If the perennial rumors about the death of the music business are true, nobody's told The Police. Or Beyoncé. Or Madonna.
Indeed, though there's no denying music's old business model has taken a massive hit in recent years--blame it on piracy, the Web or the advent of the recordable CD--there's still plenty of money to be made in the music industry.
In fact, the 10 stars on our list of the world's top-earning musicians raked in a combined $500 million between June 1, 2007 and June 1, 2008, thanks in large part to lucrative tours, endorsement contracts and all-encompassing deals. ( Hip-hop stars have been ranked separately.)
Topping the list: The Police, who banked $115 million over the course of the year, proving the big money is made on the road rather than in the recording studio.
Once famous for not getting along, the timeless rockers reunited in 2007 to perform their early hit "Roxanne" at the Grammy Awards. From there, the band fronted by Sting set out on a sold out and highly lucrative five-continent reunion tour. Some 400 fans, both young and old, forked over a collective $200 million in tickets to see the trio perform. Not bad for a trio that got their start in the late-1970s.
Singer-turned-brand Beyoncé Knowles comes in second, raking in $80 million during the 12-month period.
Once a Destiny's Child group member, the Houston native went solo in 2003 and has since released two platinum albums. She's also built a successful entertainment empire that includes fashion, film and publishing deals. She has found still more time to sell $50 million in tickets on a recent tour, take a lead role as Etta James in the upcoming flick Cadillac Records and shill for a slew of brands, including L'Oréal, American Express (nyse: AXP - news - people ) and an Armani fragrance.
Nabbing the third spot on our list is sometimes controversial--and always popular-- Toby Keith, who earned $48 million this past year. The country music star, famous for songs like "How Do You Like Me Now?" and "Beer for my Horses ," reached the impressive sum with lengthy concert tours, a lucrative endorsement deal with Ford Motor (nyse: F - news - people ) and a chain of successful restaurants that bare his name. The patriotic rocker writes all of his own songs and owns his recording label as well.
Justin Timberlake comes in fourth with earnings of $44 million.
Like his peers, the boy bander turned tabloid staple has diversified his brand, dabbling in music (2 million fans paid $100 million to see his latest tour), commercials (appeared in a Pepsi (nyse: PEP - news - people ) Super Bowl commercial), fashion (co-founded fashion label William Rast) and hospitality (co-owns restaurants Destino and Southern Hospitality). The "Sexy Back" star also signed a development deal with MTV and heads his own music label.
Rounding out the top five is Madonna, who took home $40 million during the year.
The onetime material girl has capitalized on her talent and bold-face name by cutting a mega deal with concert promotions giant Live Nation (nyse: LYV - news - people ), worth a reported $120 million over 10 years. The deal encompasses Madonna's future music and music-related businesses, including touring, albums, merchandising, DVDs and music-reality film and TV projects.
Not bad for heavyweights of an industry on the decline.
